Hi

We are running an API between our stock inventory system to Magento. Query is being running from server in Cape Town to a server in Johannesburg where the web service database is sitting. The API works occasionally, but mostly it doesn't. I am receiving the following error:

Please can someone assist as neither our developers in London nor our IT and POS guys have been able to assist and it is killing our opportunity to make online sales. What does the error mean and how can we fix it? Please help!!

Thanks

Hello Alhoterese,

The error seems clear as the sky to me: "Read timed out after 60 seconds".

Basically, one of the following:

 * your server is taking too long to respond
 * a gateway or firewall is blocking part of the communication
 * your client connection is bad or misconfigured

Cheers,

Thank-you Marco.

Apologies for the stupid questions as I am not an IT person or a programmer, but can you clarify why 1) the server would take too long to respond and 2) what is the client connection and how can a bad or misconfigured connection be fixed?

Thanks
Teresa

Hi Teresa,

That depends on your setup, sorry. This is something your internal IT team must solve, as we don't know any details about your infrastructure.

Cheers,
