Why the Zend_Loader_Autoloader_Resource exists?

I have the following questions regards the auto loader:

1. what is the purpose of Zend_Loader_Autoloader_Resource?
2. Why Zend needs us to "load" things?
3. what is the difference between "load" and include in PHP?
