Beta 5

Hi all,

Beta 5 is intended to be the last beta before we hit RC. As such it's our last chance to do get major new features into ZF2.0 and wrap up significant changes.

As such, I thought I'd start a thread to ensure we don't forget anything that we'd like to do for B5. We can then work out what we can actually do and decide what to do about the rest :)


Looking at AgileZen, the key (to my mind) outstanding things are:

* Complete Zend\Console - Arthur Bodera
* Complete Zend\Escaper - Pádraic Brady
* Complete i18n/L10n components - Ben Scholzen
* Complete Zend\Math\Rand - Denis Portnov
* Complete Zend\Db - Ralph Schindler

Other things of the top of my head are:

* Complete Zend\Form - Matthew Weier O'Phinney
* Issue triaging - as of today there are 98 reported issues for ZF2 - are any "must have" for Beta 5?
* "Convenience" layer

Please reply and let us know what I've missed!

I think that it would be useful to discuss the Beta 5 plans at Wednesday's meeting and decide what we're going to ship and possibly even set a target delivery date for B5.

There are few things that were discussed but I'm not sure everyone is
aware of the final decision

-- minimal PHP version is PHP 5.3.3 ?
-- moving Zend\Service components to separate repository
-- moving docs (and demos ?) to separate repository
-- ZendSkeletonApplication/Module are they shipped independently?

Zend\Form really needs some features when dealing with entities and composition. I have written something about that here (http://framework.zend.com/issues/browse/ZF2-322). This is, to me, a must-have feature. What do you think about such a feature ?

Hi Rob,

I rummaged through Zend\Escaper over the weekend - should be good to go shortly. I'll do the pull request next weekend most likely. Since I currently suck at reliably contributing, I'll be off to the land of issue tracking and security reviewing for the rest of beta 5's prep period.
